I have started carrying around one of those very small moleskine notebooks. The ones that are a little bigger than a business card. I’ve had a Fisher Space Pen for years and love the fact that it always fits nicely in a pocket. The little moleskines are really effective, especially with their perforated pages – easy to rip out!
I did experiment with taking notes using my iPod touch. I found a cute application created by Dan Bricklin of Visicalc fame (for my older readers). However, it didn’t really work for me. The application was clever but I couldn’t make the jump to using it.
One of the reasons for carrying a notebook around is that during the day I sometimes have an idea for a blog post. It’s often simply amazing and equally often forgotten. Tonight for instance, I knew I had a couple of ideas stored in the notebook which I could call on. On reading them though, now I’m not so sure.
One was something to do with how we are able to divide North America up into all sorts of regions with all sorts of people. I wondered how many people could also do the same for China, India and even, now I come to mention it Europe?
The other idea was a contrived way of relating the tagline for Patek Philippe to the archaic (so many words I could have put there) cellphone contracts. I have to say in fairness to the Swiss watchmaker that it was thoughtless of me to even consider them in the same breath as Canadian cellphone networks – what was I thinking? !!!
Now I’ve shared them I’m sure my doubts were well founded. These are my lost ideas. I like to think you would thank me for not taking them up!
